Whilst not strictly an offshore hosting company, Eleven2 (or E2) does provide offshore hosting in Singapore with a number of different packages, in addition to UK and US hosting locations. Established back in 2003, Eleven2 came into creation due to a lack of professional web hosting services at the time, and has since grown to providing host services to over 72,000 websites.

We began our tests at Eleven 2 back in September 2009, so they lasted a little longer than our usual trials. Initially, we requested that our hosting account be set up on their UK servers – this was a seamless affair, with our Cpanel online within 5 minutes of invoice payment. We uploaded 3 of our stock websites (Joomla, Drupal and WordPress based), waited a further week and requested that our account be moved to E2′s Singapore servers. After a quick live chat with support and a couple of emails, E2 agreed to move the websites and change our hosting location. No fee was mentioned for this, although we got the impression during our chat that this is usually a paid service.
Within an hour, all our websites and our Cpanel had been moved, new details emailed to us and everything was back online. Quite impressive.

The next month, we made some inquiries about upgrading our hosting package to a reseller account. Again, this was handled professionally and performed within an hour, with our invoice adjusted to reflect the changes.

Finally in December (and close to the holidays), we intentionally made a few mistakes on some of our .htaccess files and contacted support. At this stage we had 6 test websites running on our account. Our support ticket was written as “We are having issues with some of our websites not working, whilst others do – could you fix this for us”. Within 10 minutes the support team had responded to us, requesting details of which websites were not responding, and asking information on any changes we’d made recently. A further two ticket replies later (and after very little help from us!), the problems had been diagnosed, located and fixed. Full marks to Eleven2′s support team, and hope you accept our apologies!

Given that we review a fair amount of offshore hosting companies, we’ll usually concentrate more on the hosts which perform poorly, so we can offer concise reviews. With those hosting firms that perform well and pass our tests, we’ll save writing our reviews until our trial concludes, as it’s much easier to say nice things. StableHost is one such review that caught us unawares, and now that we’re able to submit our final review, we have only good things to say about them.

We were quite harsh with StableHost in terms of our requirements, even from day one of joining. Our first request was that they move three websites across to their our new hosting account. No problem, done inside an hour… It was clear that StableHost knew their stuff and how to wow their clients.

We gave it a week, and on a different day and time (to try and catch some different support staff), we asked that another website be transferred across, in addition to some nameserver settings. Again, within an hour all was accomplished, and once the DNS had updated everything was  online without a hitch.

In our performance tests, StableHost were again outstanding. We used their offshore server in Germany, and at no point during our tests did we suffer any slow speeds or delays on pageloads. Google Webmaster tools also had no problem with the page load speeds of our sites.

In our final mystery visitor test, we emailed support and requested an account upgrade. We mentioned that we’d been having trouble reinstalling websites ourselves, and would therefore like to upgrade to a reseller account. StableHost’s support staff responded immediately, mentioning that it had been passed on to sales. Sales then contacted us within the hour, made arrangements to upgrade our service to a reseller package, and gave us the upgrade free for the first month. We were blown away. We’ve had some nice offers from other offshore web hosting companies in the past, but nothing to this extent. We’d already been their customers for two months at this point!

As far as the services provided at StableHost, they offer both regular and reseller hosting at very reasonable prices. They use high spec dedicated servers from what we understand, rather than VPS, and it shows in the speed of web page loading times. StableHost also provide daily, weekly and monthly data backups.

In conclusion, we fully endorse StableHost – Their customer service is exemplary, their products exceeded our expectations and they have been nothing but helpful to all of our requests. Their prices are also very reasonable, and for these reasons they are to be the first offshore hosting company that we award our “Offshore Hosting Trust Award”. Well done StableHost, keep up the good work!

Having been in the offshore hosting business since 2001, Santrex are one of the more established companies we’ve had chance to review so far. They provide services in a number of different countries, including Canada hosting, China hosting, France hosting, UK hosting, Netherlands hosting and hosting in Germany. Santrex also supply a number of other products too, such as Shoutcast and Torrent Hosting, plus they tell us that they specialize in DDoS protection, “utilizing state of the art filtering techniques on our multi-gigabit equipped network to identify and filter DoS/DDoS attacks before they can disrupt normal traffic”.
Luckily for us, we didn’t have chance to test their DDoS protection services during our three month trial, however we did find their hosting both reliable and fast. We initially tested hosting at their Netherlands site, and after some good results requested a move to their Canada servers. The response to this request was both fast and efficient, and we were back up and running on their Canadian server within a few hours.
It’s also worth mentioning that Santrex have a very lenient policy with regard to what you host with them. They promise to pass DMCA complaints directly to you, allow adult hosting and other content usually restricted by web hosts.
